REPORT OF UGANDAN ‘CHILD RAPE FESTIVAL’
Lifestyle Tabloids, a blog that publishes political satire articles, posted one in April 2014 about a “Child Rape Festival” in Uganda, supposedly endorsed by the State Minister for Ethics and Integrity, Simon Lokodo. The article was written as a mockery in response to Uganda’s highly controversial laws that punish homosexuality (http://amanpour.blogs.cnn.com/2014/02/19/uganda-ethics-minister-homosexual-behavior-is-repugnant/), and Lokodo’s hugely inflammatory statement that child rape is ‘more acceptable’ than homosexuality (http://www.ibtimes.co.uk/ugandan-reverend-simon-lokodo-child-rape-better-homosexuality-video-1437976).
The satire article claims that the ‘child rape festival’ was welcomed by the Ugandan government for ‘upholding Ugandan Christian priniciples’, among other false statements.
There is NO such ‘child rape festival’ in Uganda, but there is international outrage about the country’s stance on homosexuality, as well as Uganda’s high rape statistics.
