WEEK 9: Where Do I Run To?
“May these words of my mouth and this meditation of my heart be pleasing in Your sight, Lord, my Rock and my Redeemer.” (Psalm 19:14, NIV)
Thomas Jefferson coined the phrase “All men are created equal”, but what he did not tell us is that not every working day of our lives will be equally enjoyable. Early in our mission walk, I remember a very dear friend and brother in Christ asking us, “When you are exhausted after a tough day, what do you do?” Without saying anything further, I knew exactly what he was getting at. Life can be very tough at times, and it is in those moments when we usually let our spiritual guard down and we become vulnerable.
Let us be determined that we, especially in those moments of vulnerability, will run to Jesus. For many, flopping down on the couch and turning on the television is the first port of call. Let us not only start our days with Christ, but let us also meditate with grateful hearts on a day gone past, especially the tough days.
Let us run to Jesus, the lover and sustainer of our souls.
